Hi Friends! My name is Kirstie Porteous. Welcome to my blog, Kirstie In The Kitch! Within the past year I have recently discovered my incredible passion for living a healthy lifestyle and encouraging others to join me which has lead to the birth of this blog. I wanted to create this blog so I could share my love of being in the kitchen and whipping up simple, fast, cheap and most importantly healthy meals, snacks & treats!
My interest for healthy, clean eating stemmed from personal experiences. Ever since I was a child I have struggled with a skin condition called eczema. I had tested everything to try and cure this condition but nothing was working. In October of 2011 I experienced a horrible breakout of eczema on my hands and was practically disabled. It was then that a light bulb went off in my head – I needed to change my diet! I have always typically eaten “healthy” but I was snacking on a lot of processed foods and eating foods that included dairy and gluten. I now focus on eating gluten free, dairy free, meat free, and organic. Quinoa, kale, and spinach are my new best friends! Since making these changes I have had a breakthrough with my eczema. I have also suffered with acne since high school and have noticed an incredible turnaround when it comes to acne. However cliche is sounds, I am a firm believer that You Are What You EAT!
